Income tax documents

P45

If you have worked in the UK before, you will be able to get a P45 from your previous employer. Make sure you enclose your P45 with your first timesheet with a new agency so that they can inform the Inland Revenue that you are now temping through them. It is extremely important that you are given a P45 - if you have not, you may have to pay more tax temporarily. Tax adjustments can be made throughout the year in accordance with the data on your P45.

P46

If you are working in the UK for the first time you will not have a P45, so you will need to complete a P46. This needs to be signed prior to commencing any temporary assignments.

Advantage Professional will provide you with a P46 form send your completed form to HM Revenue and Customs.

P60

This is sent to you at the end of each tax year. It shows how much you have earned throughout the tax year and how much tax and NI you have paid. You will only receive one P60 per year and it will be sent to you by whomever you are working through at the end of the tax year.
