The first thing to do will be to find somewhere to live. In
London, you can expect to pay anything from £500 a
month upwards for rental accommodation.
Most UK landlords will want a month's rent plus a deposit/bond
which can be up to six weeks rent. Generally, landlords offer
furnished rooms and provide some kitchen facilities.
Private landlords usually rent property at a market rate but
they often have the right to increase the rent with one month's
notice - ensure you get your tenancy agreement. A deposit is
usually requested and make sure the property's condition is
recorded together with a contents inventory. Your local council
will likely have a list of accredited landlords in your area. You
can also search for a letting agent who is registered with the
government backed National Approved Letting Scheme.

Utility bills such as council tax, TV licence, gas, water,
electricity etc are usually, with the exception of house share, not
included in the rent. This should always be clearly stated either
in the advert or tenancy agreement. If unsure, always double check
with the landlord and ensure you budget accordingly for these extra
costs.
We work with several housing companies in the
London area who can support you with accommodation opportunities.
All companies manage their own housing and we can help you set up
an appointment with one of them.
